Principal’s Message
Welcome to Gananoque Intermediate and Secondary School, and the “Home of the Trojans”.
As your grade 7-12 community school, we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming approach and on the way in which we serve and support our students in an atmosphere of rigorous care.
We honour all student pathways and provide courses that support successful transitions to the world of work, apprenticeship programs, college, or university. Students select from a wide variety of courses that appeal to their strengths and interests, allow for continued growth and development, and provide for a wide range of opportunities.
In addition to our standard academic programs, we offer two Specialist High Skills Major Programs for students in grades 11 and 12: ‘Hospitality and Tourism’, as well as ‘Sports’. We also have a highly successful mentoring program (Link Crew) that allows senior students to develop leadership skills while supporting grade 9 students with their transition into secondary school.
Our school building is spacious, safe, and well-maintained. The Learning Commons provides a dynamic and supportive learning environment where students have access to a wealth of resources to support their learning. Students also have access to three large computer labs, classroom sets of laptops, a variety of other devices, and full wireless coverage. We also have two dedicated fitness rooms, a large multi-purpose break-out room, and a full commercial kitchen for our hospitality program.
A high percentage of our students participate in extra-curricular opportunities offered in the areas of sport and music. Many other students contribute to our high levels of school spirit and strong sense of community by serving as members of our Trojan Intermediate Student Krew (TISK) or our Trojan Activities Student Krew (TASK).
We welcome all students and support them in becoming active and contributing members of our school.
Sincerely,
David Pier
Principal
