Welcome to Gananoque Intermediate & Secondary School, “Home of the Trojans!”, where staff are proudly committed to the success of all our students. Gananoque Intermediate and Secondary School is a school of approximately 500 students in grades 7 through 12 located in the heart of the Thousand Islands. The secondary school was built in 1949 and boasts a rich tradition of both academic and athletic excellence along with a strong connection with the community. In 2011, the Intermediate Division was added to the school enhancing the atmosphere and enriching the school experience for all students on their journey to a high school diploma.
At GISS, we are committed to providing a rigorous and engaging curriculum that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, real world learning, and a lifelong love of learning. Our educational programming is designed to cater to a variety of interests, abilities, and aspirations, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to pursue their passions and fulfill their academic potential. We offer courses for all pathways, including the world of work, apprenticeships, college, and university. We have four Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Programs here at GISS. We currently have programs in the areas of Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Hospitality and Tourism, and Sport.
